Hey Folks!
Welcome to the new 2021 blog. Today I am embarking on the wonderful question of what do you do with your hands!
Nearly every session, literally almost every one I get asked by someone in the group about hands. Hahaha. While it kind of makes me smile when asked this question I do have some ideas for you here today.
Well, we all have hands, so what do we do with them when we step in front of a camera?
First of all…… R E L A X !!
When we’re standing in a line at the coffee shop or hailing a cab in the city we are not worried about what our hands are doing. It’s natural for one or both of them to simply hang by your side…..and I bet you don’t even notice what your hands are doing during most of your activities. - Unless of course it’s pottery or wood working etc.
Second….. Listen to your photographer. Typically how we engage you and ask you turn, hold your partner, grasp an object or look in a direction will allow your hands to simply follow your actions naturally.
Third…… pocket those hands !! Allowing one or both hands to sit inside a pocket or one thumb in the pocket and the rest of your hand out or are you wearing an AMAZING belt buckle you’d like to highlight..?? Well grab it and make it fun. Once you loosen up and begin to relax (back to step 1 here) you won’t even worry about it anymore.
Finally, HAVE FUN during the session! If you are having fun you can bet your hands are having fun too and you will never have to ask your photographer again; “What do I do with my hands?” !!!!
I hope you enjoyed this little blog tip today. Reach out to me anytime with questions or comments and ideas for future blog posts. Until next time- Enjoy life & live in color ! -Mere Crockett
